  •   Initial Public Offering (U。S。) = flotation 就是“股票上市”的意思,下面给您抄一段《Oxford Dictionary of Business》的原话： FLOTATION: The process of launching a public company for the first time by inviting the public to subscribe in its shares (also known as "going public")。
       It applies both to private and nationalized share issues, and can be carried out by means of an *introduction, *issue by tender, *offer for sale, *placing, or public issue。
       After flotation the shares can be traded on a stock exchange。 Floration allows the owners of the business to raise new capital or to realize their investments。
       In the UK, flotation can be either on the *main market through a full listing or on the *alternative investment market, where less stringent regulations apply。
